During the 10 weeks the participants bond through class exercises, group discussions and activities with
F.A.R.M. Mentors. Participants also meet with social workers, counselors, ministers and other
professionals weekly to develop growth
Father and Child Relationship Building
This part of the program relies on LMSW and MSW professionals to help fathers reunite, bond and build
quality relationships with their children. Participants are encouraged to use the tools and resources we
provide to better connect with all family members including their children and the mothers of their
children.
This program also gives the entire family an opportunity to bond through social activities such as
sporting events, bowling, dancing, campsite outings, breakfast and lunch events, and other creative
outlets.
In addition, co-parenting planning is offered to both parents
Education and Skill Building Training
Fathers will achieve their educational goals to increase workforce marketability. We provide F.A.R.M.
participants with the necessary resources to continue their educational goals. F.A.R.M. guides these
fathers into GED classes and continuing education schools.
In addition, the participants are trained to develop the necessary skills for job placement and career
opportunities. Participants work with F.A.R.M.’s skilled trades professionals such as plumbers,
electricians, carpenters, drywall and painters, HVAC and others.
Legal Assistance and Child Support Help
F.A.R.M. partners with Michigan attorneys and local judges to assist fathers in correcting their child
support issues, warrants, tickets and other barriers hindering them from connecting with their children.
In most cases these services are free of charge to the F.A.R.M. participant.
Some participants are court ordered by local judges into the F.A.R.M. program in lieu of jail sentencing
giving fathers a second chance at getting fatherhood right. Many other participants are referred from
partnering organizations(i.e. Black United Fund, Department of Human Services) or seek our program
out in an attempt of proactively fixing their legal issues.
Housing Program
By utilizing available community housing F.A.R.M. assists these fathers in locating stable housing to
qualify for the court’s requirement of equal parenting time. Fathers will re-establish their families in safe,
healthy, thriving homes with the assistance of FARM while helping to rebuild suffering communities.
